Pete Townshend's "Lifehouse Elements" is a collection of songs from the 6-cd boxed set "Lifehouse Chronicles" available on his website. As many fans are aware, Townshend's delayed Lifehouse project (ultimately finished in 1999) figured prominently in the Who's masterful "Who's Next" album and several of these terrific songs are performed entirely by Townshend on this release.

Pete never finished Lifehouse as a rock opera, but the music remains. In 2000, he decided to make a decent production of the songs. The result is a performance that showcases Townshend at the peak of his instrumental and vocal talent, performing some of his greatest songs as well as some amazingly beautiful rarities and reconstructions of greatest hits.

The Lifehouse Method was a software system that Pete Townshend launched in 2007, designed to generate unique pieces of music processed from various personal data that a user input into the website interface.

Rooted heavily in the teachings of Townshend's spiritual mentor Meher Baba as well as in science fiction literature, Lifehouse was meant to explore the idea that music is the fundamental basis of all life – that every human being on Earth has a unique musical melody that "describes" them, and only them, perfectly.

Lifehouse was a science fiction rock opera by the Who intended as a follow-up to Tommy. It was abandoned as a rock opera in favour of creating the traditional rock album Who's Next, though its songs would appear on various albums and singles by the Who, as well as Pete Townshend's solo albums. In 1978, aspects of the Lifehouse project were revisited by the Who on Who Are You. In 2000, Townshend revived the Lifehouse concept with his set Lifehouse Chronicles and the sampler Lifehouse Elements. On
